This image goes in tandem with my other stone-photo.
This quite large stone lies under an Ash in the garden of my parents house in the small village of Gaperud.

A fairytale celebration of life
This weekend has been amazing. I didn't take a lot of pictures, sorry folks, but I can honestly say that if you want to go to Oslo over a weekend and want to see thousands of flags waving all over the place. Then 17th of may it is.
A lot of people were playing or singing the song Fairytale I mentioned in my previous post, which actually managed to win in Moscow! This likely made the day even more of a joyous occasion for the millions of Norwegians who celebrated the day in some manner.
To top it of Alexander Rybak encouraged people to go and meet him in the airport where my brother works. My dear brother wasn't quite as exited as the people who heeded Alexanders call. Roughly 5000 of them came according to Swedish paper Aftonbladet. This process repeated itself when Alexander returned to his hometown of Nesodden. Not bad for a 23 year old who as a child originally came to Norway as a refugee.
"I'm in looove in a fairytale, the women sang."
Something I'm not used to was the amount of people who chose to dress up in folk costumes. Often these creations are very impressive and beautiful, mostly weared by women and children, with the addition of a couple of brave men. And I tell you, seeing muslim woman passing by wearing the Hijab and then the next second moving past women wearing norwegian folk costumes is definetly something out of the ordinary for me.

Sometimes you need to go away to see life from a different perspective. This weekend helped me a lot to do this. Meeting my brother and seeing seeing how he lives was fun. Then I got the chance to experience the next day being guided by I girl I haven't met for a long time trough the streets of Oslo, where tens of thousands were celebrating. When I eventually had to take the bus home I felt revitalized and happy, a feeling that lasted all the way home.
Being there and experiencing the Norwegian national day my friends, fellow blog readers and writers, were nothing short of fantastic. I also would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your comments. I read them all and they really make writing these words so much more joyous.

Oslo is Calling
Tonight I am heading towards Norway to spend some quality time with one of my brothers. He's taking a flight to South Africa soon and I am there to give him his pass port, which was left with his family in Sweden. Little did I think of that this is the weekend that the Norwegian national day is celebrated - the 17th of May.
There will be flags waving, and if Norway wins the Eurovision Song Contest; which I bet, the sense of pride will most likely be overflowing. Alexander Rybak who will contending for Norway managed to move on from the semi-final yesterday with the song Fairytale, which adds a folk-music touch with the violin in the focus. I can honestly say that this charming song has won me over. I like it, I like it a lot.
Oslo, here I come!

Kissing the Sun
Tomorrow the twin birch in my back yard will be cut down due to it being rotten in the stem close to the ground. I've grown very fond of this specific birch, which has always stood there reaching high up for the sky for as long as I've lived here on Norrstrand. But tomorrow is another day.
Today she reaches for the sky.
Today she kisses the sun.
Soon she will welcome the moon.
So today I want to dedicate this post to a tree that learned me to see nature with different eyes then I used to.

Kreativ Blogger Award
I got an award from the lovely Cottage Garden Studio today. I'm now officially a 'Kreativ Blogger'. I am happy and quite honored to have been awarded this. Sarah from Cottage Garden Studios in her turn received this from Tabitha over at her blog. This is the beauty of the blogosphere, that I can trace back who have revieved the award and find out all sorts of new inspirational people.

People who receive this award are encouraged to write down seven of their favorite things to go with this. Of course I will do this too. So, in no particular order whatsoever,
This is seven of my favorite things:
1. The feel of wind in my face. This is one of the reason why I love windy days. I close my eyes and experience the sensation of it. It amazes me and it is a very cool way to experience nature. I am still a bit concerned how people would view me if I would do this in public, which means that I often do this when people are not looking.
2. Any detail out of the ordinary both in the city and on the countryside. I like to capture these with my camera in all kinds of different angles. I am looking for those special little things that pop out. Things that lend itself to be part of my compositions.
3. Trees. I have developed a deep fondness for the birch. All the birches that flourishes in Sweden all have unique looks and forms that I too love to photo. Nowadays I cannot look on a tree the same way as I used to do.
4. New music. And when I say new, I mean new to me. It can be anything from Soul and Disco to Techno and Electronica. When I find out something new that's 'it' , it is very much like falling in love. Writing and occasionally performing music, well, that should deserve another place, but these are related.
5. The Tarot. 78 cards with a very interesting history or spiritual and religious nature. I like to go deep and have found something much more then a tool for telling the future. In fact, that is its least spectacular feature to my mind and something I am not very interested in.
6. Those special people who spread happiness to people around them. They really deserve to be mentioned here. People who make us feel connected to one another. Who care. Who do the little things without asking for anything in return. May your gifts find it's way back to your heart eventually.
7. Warm summer rain. In a similar vein to what I mentioned first, the last is about experiencing nature in a direct way. Just go out and just soak it in. You don't have to be naked or use your special clothes. But I have to warn you: there are chances that you going to get wet by doing this, but that is also the case if you take a shower.
Thanks again Sarah for sharing this with me. I also want to take the opportunity to give this award to momo jord. (rough translation: grandma earth) A swedish blog written by a very inspirational woman which I found out not so long ago.
